For those not familiar with names or words used., a glossary has been prepared.

Language

Names are in modern English, French, or German. This also applies for cities. We have named people with their number. In other words, we have called people as they are most commonly known today regardless of what their contemporaries called them. All this is not perfectly historical but it is more convenient for genealogical point of view and for search engines.

How to prepare an armory

Few XIII^thcentury heraldry related documents exist. As far as I know, earliest known armorials and heraldic rolls were produced after the albigensian crusade and discribe more northen provinces like Flander rather than southern France.
We lack especially information about defeated and spoiled knights. Even the coats of arms of the "winners" might have disappeared if they left no descendants able to inherit. Some people changed their coat of arms during their lifetime, as Richard Lionheart did.
In addition, the spelling of names, towns and landmarks was not the constant in all different languages (Latin, old French, Occitan...) and sometimes a name was even not unique, which could lead to the mix up of one person with another (for example Blanquefort, Blanchefort, Blanquafort...).
To overcome these problems we need to cross as many references as possible from different sources... and sometimes to make assumptions.
