County of Perche English

At the end of the Xth century, the count of Blois gave some lands around Nogent to one of his vassals, Rotrou, to prevent any Norman incursion. In 1066, Geoffroy IV († 1100), son of Rotrou II, followed William the Conqueror. Perche was raised into a county in 1079.
Rotrou III († 1144) fought in Spain with Rodrigo Diaz de Bivar better known as El Cid Campeador. King Alphonse of Aragon gave him, as a reward, half the city of Saragossa where a quarter was called "Alperche" in his memory.

Comté du Perche Français

A la fin du Xème siècle, le comte de Blois donna des terres autour de Nogent à un de ses vassaux, Rotrou, pour prévenir toute incursion normande. En 1066, Geoffroy IV († 1100), fils de Rotrou II, suivit Guillaume le Conquerant. Le Perche fut érigé en comté en 1079.
Rotrou III († 1144) combattit en Espagne avec Rodrigo Diaz de Bivar dit El Cid Campeador. Le roi d'Aragon Alphonse lui donna, en récompense, la moitié de la ville de Saragosse où un quartier fut appelé "Alperche" en sa mémoire.
